RE: If I move to Texas-Where???

Sounds like you are looking for Kerrville in the hill country area of Texas. It's about half-way across Texas on I-10. Lots of hills, trees, State Parks, and nice climate in the immediate area, and San Antonio and Austin are not far away {about an hour}. Kerrville is a popular retirement community, along with a popular recreational destination. Lots to do around there if you like the outdoors.
And I wouldn't worry about Summer running into you {she normally doesn't shoot at vehicles}. She drives a mini-cooper. If she hits your moped, her car will be totaled and you might get a scratch or two. :B :B :B

RE: Picture posting thread...anyone into it?

OK, three more of Sullivan:
Does he have eye teeth or fangs?
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f96/mikesmith55/eyeteethorfangs.jpg
He's wondering why he cannot open his presents? See the torn corner on the box closest to him?
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f96/mikesmith55/huhitsmypresent.jpg
And here's some of the kids in his go cart that his other granddad got him for Christmas.
Floor it!!! Whoops... the driver is doing some window shopping...

RE: Picture posting thread...anyone into it?

Oh my gosh. Mike that is one group of funny pictures! :B Fire arms make me nervous but I really enjoyed these pics! Sullivan is such a cutie. Your daughter is just gorgeous.
I was real proud of the fact that all 4 people checked that little 410 before they started playing around with it. My safety training when they were kids worked!!! {FYI: All shells were locked in the safe}
And Kenny, I've been an empty nester for 11 years, about as long as my daughter have been "on the market"... :(

I'm still trying to get my daughter married off. Here's a current picture of her {And yes, I am blatantly playing off of Sarah Palin's current popularity!}
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f96/mikesmith55/husbandsneeded.jpg width=230
Judging by her good looks I'm shocked there aren't 100s of men standing in line, unless of course your really the one who holds the shotgun.:W:B
The guys find her a bit intimidating...

RE: Artic shows massive ice gains

Actually, if the North Pole is decreasing and the South Pole is increasing their respective ice masses, our Planet is heading for a major, life-threatening catastrophe!
The weight imbalance between the north and south poles will enhance the earth's wobble, causing the Poles to eventually rotate towards the equator, similar to a spinning egg. Yes, it would be a swift move when it gets to the "tipping" point, resulting in catastrophic destruction of land, sea, and life.

RE: Help with Ford truck

I just traded in my 2003 F250 V-10 Lariat with 165,000 miles for $4000. It is in good shape with a cracked windshield and several small dents in the bumper.
On edit, I was offered $9,000 trade-in in February, before gas prices went through the roof. Oh well...

OK, as promised...
This is a photo Sullivan's parents had taken on his 3rd birthday, August 5, 2008. It's my new favorite picture!
I'll post some from his party tomorrow.

RE: Range Finders for Golf

I purchased a Nikon 440 range finder from a golfer. He had trouble getting it to focus on the flag. It is touchy, due to the zoom feature that you cannot turn off.
It works great for bow hunting. I can put the cross hairs on a nearby tree and adjust the range from there, or put it on the deer {if I have time} for a dead-on accurate range.

RE: Your Fuel/Oil comments - please post here

Most of those alleged millions of acres the oil companies have are part of sections that have oil in a small piece of that section. And some of those sections have no oil. And some are just too much hassle to drill, due to all the environmental issues.
And the reason why "big oil" would love to get at our oil reserves is due to competition. I'll keep it simple...
OPEC removes oil from the ground at a cost of $4 per barrel and sells it to "big oil" for $115 a barrel. If "big oil" can get their own oil in ANWR or off our coastline or from shale, they get to keep the difference in the cost of oil.
IOW, If ANWR oil costs $16 per barrel to extract it, they make $99 profit at today's rate. If oil drops to $40 a barrel, they still make $26 profit, as opposed to buying it for $40 from OPEC.

RE: trains

My wife & I have over 80,000 miles traveling via Amtrak, and just completed a 6500 mile trip from Houston to Seattle, via LA there & Chicago back in June.
If you are taking Amtrak, get a sleeper {period!}. Sleeping in coach is not possible for me, due to my {preservation} nature. I cannot sleep among a bunch of strangers, even if I'm carrying personal protection.
Do not plan on an on-time trip. Amtrak does not own the track they travel on and UP {owner of the track} is not very friendly with Amtrak.
You will see a BUNCH of our Nation as you travel across country. We enjoy the scenery and the various towns we stop in {briefly}.
If you have any questions, post them or PM me.

RE: Swimming pools

When {and if} you decide the expense and maintenance and liability issues are more than you want to deal with, an above-ground pool is easier to get rid of.
